One family. Generations of customers.

Amarjeet Bansal opened New Bansal Boot House on Jaijon Road in 1980. His son Rahul runs it today. In between, it became the shop Mahilpur buys shoes from.

How it started, and what it became.

The shop opened in 1980. That is the fact the whole business rests on, and it is worth being plain about what it means: a family has been selling footwear on the same road, to the same town, for 46 years.

What changed over that time was the range. A shop that stays open for 46 years ends up stocking whatever its customers keep asking for, and in Mahilpur that turned out to be nearly everything — school shoes and sports shoes, chappals and slippers, formal shoes for work, sneakers for every day, and juttis for every wedding season.

Today it runs across three floors, with shelving from the ground to the ceiling in most of the rooms. It is, physically, a lot bigger than the phrase “local shoe shop” suggests.

Two names above the counter.

Amarjeet Bansal

Founder, 1980

Started the shop on Jaijon Road and spent the following decades building the thing the business still trades on — a reputation among families who came back, and then sent their children.

Rahul Bansal

Proprietor, today

Amarjeet’s son. Runs the shop now, across three floors and a range that covers every age in a family. His number is the one on the sign outside.

Relationships, not transactions.

A shop that intends to be there in twenty years sells differently from one that does not. There is no advantage in talking somebody into the wrong size, because that person lives fifteen minutes away and their family has been coming here since before you were behind the counter.

That is most of what “trust” means in practice here: honest answers about what a shoe is, a straight recommendation when something cheaper will do the job, and the room to sit down and try several pairs without being hurried.
